Samuel Eto’o has been dropped by Antalyaspor after accusing the Turkish club of ‘racism.’
The former Chelsea and Everton striker claimed people ‘don’t respect him because he is black’ following criticism from Antalyaspor’s chairman.
Chairman Ali Safak Ozturk aimed a dig at Eto’o , claiming no player was above the Turkish club.
Eto’o took to Instagram to hit back and posted: “Perhaps some people do not feel respect for me because I am black.”
Antalyaspor issued a statement confirming Eto’o would train away from the first team while his case is heard.
The Cameroon striker, now 35, went on to deny his response was aimed at Ozturk, calling him his “brother”.
He added: “My message was to a person who criticises me unjustly for years and while he continues his criticisms, I kept winning trophies.”
Eto’o joined the Turkish side in 2015 following a brief spell with Sampdoria.
